Oh, Togo's -- How I love you

A Sunday ritual for me is to have a delicious #24 for lunch at Togo's in Gilbert. I first ate at Togo's in California in the Campbell store back in 1980 after moving to the Bay area that January. Togo's has been my favorite sandwich shop ever since. This particular store in Campbell was the second sandwich shop started by the founder and opened for business in 1977. I loved the store, as it was situated in an old house -- it had so much charm. Unfortunately, it is no longer a Togo's (there is a store in the Pruneyard across the street), and it has changed quite a bit, but this is what I so fondly remember.
When the shop closed, a nice article was written in 2001, with a little history of the house. http://mytown.mercurynews.com/archives/campbellreporter/10.31.01/togos-0144.html

Screech Owl Babies!!! So Squee!!!

A gal I know through my swim club discovered that she has a pair of nesting Screech Owls in her backyard. She has been busy posting photos and documenting their development on her Facebook page. Here are a few of the photos, followed by a video of one of the three fledglings. So cute!!!
The parents
One of the three fledglings. This little guy (or girl) is only about 6" tall!
The fledgling is sitting in an Oleander, which has leaves that are about 7 to 8 inches long.

They're Magically Delicious!!

Cheryl, my incredibly talented artist daughter, has been working on special "small" oil paintings during her summer break. I absolutely fell in love with her creation titled "Lucky Charms." So much so, that I simply had to have it.
There are sentimental reasons for purchasing it, but I just love the color and the imagery. The glass bowl reminds me of the type of dishes my grandparents had in their house and is rendered so beautifully.

I'm not the only one who thinks this work of art is great -- the people who make Lucky Charms thought so as well. Yesterday, they asked my daughter's permission to post the image on their Facebook page and said "If you ask us, fine art has never looked more fine... Way to go, Cheryl!"

I'm one proud mama, and also the proud owner of a really nice work of art. A win-win anyway you look at it.

I Can Has Coffee?

Hey, there human. It looks like you have coffee.

Maybe if I get a little closer I'll have a chance at tasting some.
Oh, I'm so close I can almost taste it.
Well, that didn't work. Maybe I can just jump on that table.
Then, she would have to notice me and give me some of her coffee!!
Yes, it worked!! I can has coffee!!

My human wanted me to be sure to tell you that I was only allowed to lap up the remains of her coffee, she doesn't want me to get all hyper and hurt myself. :)
