Have a Mice Day!

When I was a young girl, Hanna-Barbera cartoon TV shows were very popular. One of which was "Huckleberry Hound". A segment of Huckleberry Hound was the cartoon, "Pixie and Dixie and Mr. Jinks". Trust me, I'm going somewhere with this. Pixie and Dixie were mice and Mr. Jinks was an orange cat with a blue bow tie, who spoke like Marlon Brando, and had a wonderful catchphrase:

"I HATE MEECES TO PIECES!"

Well, that catchphrase was going over and over in my mind, as during my camp in New Mexico, I finally figured out where the mouse nest in my van was located. You see, I had acquired a mouse briefly, a week or so before leaving for my trip, but it had vacated my van due to high temperatures. However, I couldn't find the nest it was trying to build.

The way I figured it out was due to the hot temperatures I was traveling in and my van's air conditioning didn't seem to be performing as well as it should. That's when the proverbial light bulb went on -- check the cabin air filter -- and sure enough, once I opened the compartment that houses the filter, there it was, a big chunky mouse nest made from napkins I had stored in the lower glove box.

A new filter was purchased and the nest was removed, but my AC was still struggling a bit as I continued to Santa Fe and beyond to Oklahoma.

Yesterday, I decided to have another look at the cabin filter compartment, and there was even MORE of the mouse nest that had appeared while I was traveling. Evidently, it was quite the large nest, but this time, I know I got the rest of it out.

Fortunately, I don't believe any lasting damage has been done to my van's HVAC system, but you can bet I've been setting my humane mouse trap every night since I left on my trip, and suffice it to say,

I also hate meeces to pieces!

I spared you the gross mouse nest and dirty cabin filter images, so enjoy these photos of where I am camped now, at a beautiful reservoir in Fort Supply, Oklahoma. Have a Nice day!
