The Moon and Venus have been lining up in different configurations these past few nights. Last night they were lined up side-by-side, which reminded me of a winky emoticon. This evening, Venus is below the Moon. The contrast of the night sky against the remaining sunset, along with the bare branches of my neighbor's tree was just too pretty to not capture in a photo.

Mommy Boats Are Coming to Win Us!
Mommy Boats? Huh? Okay, unless you know me and my daughter, Cheryl, you'll never in your wildest imagination understand what "Mommy Boat" is all about. If you want to know read on.
I'm your typical baby-boomer--born in the '50s, High School in the late '60s and early '70s. Cat Stevens (a.k.a. Steven Georgiou, now Yusuf Islam) was one of my favorite artists during my High School years.
Both of my daughters grew up listening to lots of great music from the '50s to the present, as I love music and love to sing. "Longer Boats" by Cat Stevens would come on the radio every now and then, and of course, I had to belt it out. My oldest daughter, Cheryl, is a very accomplished singer and artist. She would always accompany me on just about any song she would hear me singing, especially, "Longer Boats." Well, being the creative creature that she is, somehow "Longer Boats" became "Mommy Boats".
Here's the first verse with Mommy Boats substituted for Longer Boats: "Mommy Boats are coming to win us, they're coming to win us, they're coming to win us. Mommy Boats are coming to win us. Hold on to the shore, they'll be taking the key from the door."
So now you know. Cheryl has been playing around with acrylics on wood and came up with this unusual interpretation of me. I really like it. It may not appeal to everyone, but it means something very special to me.
